About Us
Summer Wind Farms grows certified organic vegetable, herb, and fruit plants that help families grow fresh food in their own backyard. Because the best meals start with food you grew at home.
Summer Wind Farms is a multi-generation family farm in South Jersey built on more than a century of hard work, tradition, and a love for the land.
Our story began in 1899 when Michael Ferrucci left his mountain village in the Abruzzi region of Italy and came to America at just fifteen years old. After years of labor and sacrifice, he settled in Gloucester County, New Jersey, where he cleared wooded land by hand and began growing vegetables to support his family.
Over the decades the Ferrucci family continued to expand the farm and its crops. What began as a vegetable farm eventually grew into a respected nursery operation producing field-grown shrubs, perennials, and evergreens. But the family’s connection to food and farming never faded.
In 2013, Michael’s great-grandson Frank Ferrucci returned to the family’s roots in vegetable production and founded Summer Wind Farms. Today the farm focuses on growing certified organic vegetables and garden plants that help people grow their own fresh food at home.
Summer Wind Farms is now one of South Jersey’s largest organic greenhouse operations. Every plant we grow follows strict USDA organic standards and responsible farming practices designed to protect soil health, conserve water, and support pollinators.
We believe gardening should connect people to their food, their land, and the joy of cooking at home. That’s why our mission is simple: help people grow great food in their own backyard.
